If you’ve ever parked your car outside in San Diego only to return to a constellation of dull, whitish marks across the paint, you’ve experienced the nuisance of water spots. These blemishes aren’t just cosmetic; if left untreated, they can etch into your car’s clear coat and cause lasting damage.

Here are a few common causes:
Before diving into removal methods, it’s important to identify the type of water spot you're dealing with:
These are the most common and easiest to remove. The minerals sit on top of the paint and can often be wiped off with the right cleaner.
When mineral deposits are left too long, they can etch into the clear coat. These require more aggressive polishing or even professional correction.
Sometimes mistaken for water spots, these are contaminants like tree sap, brake dust, or industrial fallout that bond to your paint. Specialized treatments are needed to remove them.
